When Frida (30) and her daughter Gara (13) are evicted from their apartment and accused of squatting, they find themselves homeless on the massively touristic volcanic island where Frida grew up. With affordable housing replaced by empty vacation homes and luxury resorts, they are forced to move into a slum-like caravan village for locals, overshadowed by the growing tourist industry. As Frida struggles to survive and make a living, Gara becomes isolated and begins losing herself in the island’s relentless party scene. Frida, overwhelmed and out of time, fears she’s losing her daughter.
Meanwhile, the island seems to come alive around them – the heat becomes unbearable, the ocean begins to boil, and spirits from the burnt down zoo start to haunt the skies, all as the club music intensifies. Frida becomes terrified that both her daughter and the island are on the verge of destruction, and that she’s powerless to stop it.
