Mirjam Sveinbjörg Thorkelsdottir was born in 1998, half Icelandic and half Albanian. In 2020 she was awarded the Next Nordic Generation prize. She graduated with a bachelor in directing from Westerdals Oslo Act and The National Film School of Norway in Lillehammer
