Amina (65) is a retiree and migrant living alone in Oslo, Norway. Her grandson, Jonas (16), is her only connection to the outside world. When her grandson suddenly dies from drowning, she refuses to accept that it was an accident. For the first time ever, Amina steps out of her comfort zone to find out what really happened to Jonas.
Mahmona Khan has many years of experience as a journalist and author and has written a number of both non-fiction and fiction books. Mahmona’s novel debut was in 2011 with the young adult novel TAINTED (SKITTEN SNØ) which got great reviews and was a massive hit with the public. The TV series is based on the novel, and created for the screen by Mahmona herself.
The series TAINTED (SKITTEN SNØ) produced by Miso Film for the Norwegian broadcast NRK in 2019, has also been shown in several countries. Among these HBO Max Latin America. Russia, Indonesia, Belgium, Finland, Greece, Netherlands and Luxembourg. It was also released on Netflix Nordic 2022.
Khan was born in Norway to Pakistani parents who immigrated to Oslo at the beginning of the 1970s. She grew up in Oslo with a few years in Pakistan from age eight to eleven years of age.
In Khan’s 2009 non-fiction book FLASHBACK (TILBAKEBLIKK), she highlights the hardship and frugality of the first generation of immigrants and how they were focused on giving the second generation of Pakistanis in Norway better opportunities than they had themselves.
Khan has toured all over Norway lecturing and discussing her books and Tv-series with teenagers.
