ALSO A LIFE follows the daily life of residents and staff at a respite home for children and young people with developmental disabilities and autism. Through team leader Eivor, we see both the joys and challenges of life here, as they interact with residents, relatives, the staff, and the system around them. When Lilja, an 18-year-old with Downs Syndrome, becomes pregnant, Eivor must try to guide both Lilja, her parents, and the residence safely through the uncertainty and questions that arise, all while maintaining the routines and tasks of everyday life.
Anders Emblem is a self-taugh Norwegian director from Ålesund. He produce and directed his first film HURRY SLOWLY as part of an artistic research. It played in Nara International Film Festival and Slamdance in 2018/2019, both in the main competition. Emblem second feature A HUMAN POSITION (2022) was the opening film at the Tromsø Film Festival in 2022, followed by IFFR Rotterdam International Film Festival, Jeonju, San Sebastian, Nara, Chicago, Thessaloniki, Ghent, Transilvania and more. It had its national release May 2022, and was acquired by Mubi for a world wide release, January 2023.
