Anna, a Ukrainian refugee and newly arrived translator for Ukrainian soldiers in a German military camp, unexpectedly encounters her estranged stepsister Valeriia, undergoing training before deployment to the frontline. Driven by guilt for leaving Ukraine and being separated from Valeria due to life choices, Anna has just 30 days for what might be their last chance to reconnect and feel like the family they’ve never been.
Anastasiia Solonevych is a Ukrainian director and scriptwriter, an alumna of the 47th Cannes La Résidence and the Locarno Filmmakers Academy. Born in Kyiv, she is temporarily based in Berlin due to the invasion of Ukraine. Graduated from The Film and Television Directing program at Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv.
In 2023, her fiction short film As it Was (co-directed with Damian Kocur), was nominated for the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival. The film was selected for over 40 international film festivals, including renowned events such as Palm Springs, Uppsala, Premiers Plans, and Vienna Shorts, capturing the attention of discerning audiences worldwide, and received short film candidacy for the European Film Awards.
