Eleanor Debreu

Born in Los Angeles, California, Eleanor now lives and works in Oslo, Norway. She started working with film festivals and international sales at Luxbox in Paris, later moving to Oslo in 2023 to join MIRAGE, a festival dedicated to the art and craft of cinema.

At MIRAGE, Eleanor played a key role in positioning the festival and reimagining how cinema connects to the realm of art, and expanding its audience base. Her work has included initiatives like the marketing campaign MIRAGE-lit Nights, inspired by Edvard Munch’s moonlit paintings, with the goal to foster creative intersections between cinema and other artistic disciplines. Eleanor will work with STÆR to launch its distribution arm and to promote auteur films on the national and international stage.

Her passion for cinema stems from a love for crafting stories and creating spaces where audiences can experience connection. Shaped by life in four metropolitan cities, Eleanor studied music and architecture in New York and theatre in London. Her international background and education in the liberal arts enable her to see narratives from several angles. Like art, she views cinema as another medium capable of transcending divisions, pushing boundaries, and creating awe, wonder, and a sense of belonging.

She is a graduate of the EAVE Marketing Workshop.
